A very familiar face amongst our clients, Rob founded Two Stories in 2019 alongside Creative Director, Bekkie, and has been working hard as Managing Director ever since.

We asked Rob to reflect on the journey so far, define the meaning of success, and much more. Here’s what he said…

What motivated you to create Two Stories?

Bekkie and I had both worked in agencies where the specialism in brand was lacking. Large agencies had a “full-service approach” but fell short on specialism and client relationships.

When we joined forces to create Two Stories, we wanted to produce work that not only looked great but had purpose behind it; work that was not only worthy of awards and recognition but fundamentally drove our clients forward and projected our key drivers and values.

What’s the biggest thing you’ve learnt since founding Two Stories?

I have learnt that our values and drivers do actually work! You set off in business with the idea and belief, but you can never be 100% sure it’s right until you try it.

Two Stories works for us from a job satisfaction point of view whilst equally driving output and success for our clients. It allows a team to be successful, which is really important to us. I knew that if we built a business we loved, our team would not only be on board with that but also find their own point of success.

What’s unique about Two Stories?

I would say there are a couple of unique points about Two Stories. The first is something a lot of businesses would say… our people. The team genuinely care about the work they are producing.

On that, we believe our process and desire to create brands that are built from a purpose is the aspect that is unique to us. It enables us to create brands that are essentially “right first time” and stand out amongst the crowd.

Which two things do you love most about Two Stories?

The team, of course, and the way we all work together. I love seeing mine and Bekkie’s dream come to life in real time. Producing work that we truly believe in and that leads to success for our clients is a great feeling.

How would you describe the culture at Two Stories?

Our culture is very open and transparent, and I think Two Stories is a genuinely “fun” place to work. We don’t have a huge amount of hierarchy here and we believe in a ‘do your best work and go home’ approach. We don’t drive people into the ground with super late nights. We just ask our team to believe in the process and guard it with your life. It works!

What does “success” mean to you?

To me, success is creating a business that is sustainable both financially and environmentally and is beyond “Rob and Bekkie”. Whilst we started as a two, the culture and process should stand the test of time and be able to hold its ground in the industry, with or without us.

I believe success also means individuals that can thrive in their own right but also pull together as a team.

What are your two most memorable moments from your time at Two Stories so far?

There have been loads of memorable moments so far! If I was pressed for two, I would say winning our first Design award at the Red Rose Awards in 2022 and seeing the list of clients that entrust us with their brands today. This starts with the team at Channel 4 through to global private equity companies, as well as the many hugely successful regional businesses we work with.

How do you envision the future of Two Stories?

The future of Two Stories will involve doubling down on our process for creating brands and telling stories. Our small team in the North West has proved that they can work across the country and beyond, which gives me total confidence that we will become an industry recognised and respected studio over the next few years.

If you could sum up Two Stories in two words, what would you say?

Story Tellers!

A massive thank you to Rob for taking the time to sit down with us and provide some very interesting insights!
